Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov is called up to Uzbekistan's 26-man World Cup squad for 2026.
Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov has been included in Uzbekistan's 26-player roster for the upcoming World Cup tournament. Khusanov made history as the first Uzbek footballer to feature in England's Premier League when he transferred from Lens to City in January 2025. The 22-year-old has since made 47 appearances for City and contributed to their FA Cup and Carabao Cup victories last season.
Uzbekistan will participate in their first-ever World Cup under the guidance of Italian World Cup-winning manager Fabio Cannavaro from the 2006 edition. The squad's leadership will be provided by forward Eldor Shomurodov, who completed the 2025-26 season on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir from his parent club Roma. Uzbekistan is set to open their Group K campaign against Colombia on 18 June, followed by fixtures against Portugal and DR Congo.
The Uzbekistan squad's goalkeepers selected for the World Cup include Utkir Yusupov from Navbahor, Abduvohid Nematov from Nasaf, and Botirali Ergashev from Neftchi.
