Three Puducherry cricketers suspended amid assault charges in 2025 incident

Incident details confirmed A statement released by the Cricket Association of Puducherry (CAP) disclosed that three cricket players were implicated in a serious criminal case, which includes accusations of attempting to murder and assaulting Mr. Venkataraman, the CAP's under-19 team coach. The incident reportedly took place on December 8, 2025. Additionally, the C that a formal chargesheet has been submitted to the Sedurapet Police Station, with the case currently pending before the Hon'ble Judicial Magistrate - IV Court in Puducherry. ## Immediate sanctions imposed In response to the incident, the CAP has issued strict disciplinary measures against the three players involved. They have been suspended without delay from all cricketing activities organized under the CAP's jurisdiction. Furthermore, the players are prohibited from entering the CAP Siechem campus located in Tutipet, Pondicherry, as well as any other premises controlled by the CAP until further orders are given. They will also be barred from representing CAP in any domestic or international cricket competitions or events. ## Conditions for reinstatement The suspension will remain effective until the Hon'ble Court concludes the legal proceedings and acquits the accused of all charges. The CAP has made it clear that the decision is final and will only be revisited upon the court's verdict.
