Contract extension details England pace bowler Sonny Baker has agreed to a two-year contract extension with Hampshire, keeping him at the club through the end of the 2028 season. The 23-year-old joined Hampshire from Somerset in 2025 and has since accumulated 47 wickets across 22 appearances, including 36 dismissals in 11 first-class games. He has featured regularly for Hampshire at the start of the 2026 campaign, playing in four of their five County Championship fixtures where he secured 14 wickets. ## Baker's reflection on progress Speaking about his development, Baker outlined his objectives for the year, stating, "My main aims for this year were to earn the respect of the senior players by demonstrating more consistency in performance." He added, "I feel I've come a long way since last year, all thanks to the experiences I've had here."
