Scotland striker Kirsty Hanson to join Tottenham in 2026 transfer move

Tottenham are finalising a deal to sign Aston Villa’s top scorer Kirsty Hanson this month.

Villa star heading to Spurs Scotland forward Kirsty Hanson is set to transfer from Aston Villa to Tottenham after a standout season in the Women’s Super League. The 22-game campaign saw Hanson finish with 12 goals, placing her third in the league’s scoring charts behind only Khadija Shaw and Alessia Russo. She claimed both Villa’s Player of the Season award and the WSL’s Goal of the Season prize for her strike against West Ham. Villa confirmed her exit after Spurs secured a bid accepted by the club. ## Personal terms and Scotland career Personal terms between Hanson and Tottenham are being finalised following her spell at Villa, where she scored five goals in 44 appearances for Scotland. The move comes with one year remaining on her contract at Villa, while the transfer fee agreed with Spurs remains undisclosed. Hanson will join manager Martin Ho’s squad, having previously worked together at Manchester United when Ho served as assistant coach. ## Spurs’ transfer activity and season review Tottenham concluded the 2025-26 season in fifth position under Ho’s leadership after he joined from SK Brann for his first managerial campaign. The club has already made two further signings this window, adding West Ham forward Shekiera Martinez and Dutch defender Caitlin Dijkstra. Spurs enter the transfer window with clear ambitions to strengthen further for the upcoming season. ## Media and coverage details New episodes of Women’s Football Weekly podcast are released every Tuesday on BBC Sounds.
