Samuel Eto'o Fils entered the world on March 10, 1981, in Douala, Cameroon. He was brought up in the Nkon suburb, located just outside Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital city. Specifically, his early years were spent in the Mvog-Ada district, an area known for its severe economic hardships within the capital. Samuel grew up alongside two brothers who also pursued careers as professional footballers. Real Madrid’s talent scouts identified Eto'o’s potential at an early stage, leading to his enrollment in the club’s youth program when he was 16. He was then sent out on loan to Leganes and Espanyol before making a single appearance for Real Madrid. A third loan move took him to Mallorca, where his goal-scoring abilities began to stand out. Eventually, believing his opportunities at Real Madrid were limited, he secured a permanent transfer to Mallorca for 4.4 million pounds.
