O'Neill's Unlikely Return: Celtic's Sensational Title Win in 2026

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill claims the team has given him reasons to live after winning their fourth league title.

O'Neill's Emotional Tribute to Celtic Martin O'Neill says Celtic have given him reasons to live after their stunning Scottish Premiership triumph, but the 74-year-old insists he does not know whether he will stay on beyond this season. The Northern Irishman has taken interim charge across two spells this season - either side of Wilfried Nancy's brief and unsuccessful tenure - and led Celtic to his fourth league title with the club, 21 years on from his third. His side hosted Hearts on Saturday needing to win to leapfrog the Tynecastle outfit at the summit, which they managed in dramatic circumstances as late goals from Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand secured a 3-1 victory. ## O'Neill's Rejuvenation and Family Support O'Neill could even make it a double next weekend when Celtic face Championship side Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup final. 'I feel rejuvenated,' O'Neill said. 'The players and the staff have given me a reason to live. That's not to say my family haven't..' O'Neill was in this very spot last season talking to Brendan about winning it and he was really jealous. Not for one minute did he think he'd be back here. In October, he was having coffee on the King's Road in London, enjoying retirement. He thought the days of him here at Celtic Park lifting trophies were well and truly gone. ## O'Neill's Uncertainty About His Future Given the regard in which he is held by Celtic supporters, there will inevitably be questions as to whether O'Neill continues in the role next season. When asked directly amid the post-match celebrations at Parkhead, the former Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Sunderland manager refused to commit. 'I genuinely don't know,' he said. 'Has anybody talked to me? No, but I wasn't expecting that. There will be time for conversations after the cup final.' O'Neill is 74 years old and said it takes a lot out of him. He feels like a bit-part in proceedings. The players see him every day and think, 'what's he doing here?' ## O'Neill's Appreciation for Celtic's Fans O'Neill reacted after winning his fourth title as Celtic boss. He said, 'This is the most special place on earth. When there is absolute unison in this stadium, it is a sight to behold.' O'Neill is delighted for the fans and said they could not have won it without them. He also praised the players, especially the captain.
