Nottingham Forest Women have parted ways with head coach Carly Davies after nearly three years in charge.

Managerial change at Forest Nottingham Forest Women have decided to part ways with their head coach, Carly Davies, following nearly three years in the role. Davies' final match in charge ended in a 3-0 home defeat against Southampton on May 2nd. Forest finished in seventh place in the Women's Super League 2 this season, one year after securing promotion and winning the Women's National League Cup double. ## Club statement on decision A club statement explained the reasoning behind the decision: 'The current campaign in the second tier has seen the team finish mid-table in a competitive league and after careful consideration, as the team continues to push towards the WSL, the club has made the decision to begin a fresh cycle under new management.' The statement also praised Davies' contributions: 'Everyone at Nottingham Forest sincerely thanks Carly for her dedication, commitment and professionalism, recognising her significant contribution to the club’s recent upwards trajectory and success.' ## Davies' coaching background Before her time at Forest, Carly Davies had previously served as an assistant manager at West Bromwich Albion and coached the England Under-19 team. Her contract with Forest was originally set to run until the summer of 2027, but she had agreed to an extension in November 2024. ## Season performance review Forest had a mixed season, winning nine of their 22 matches. One highlight was a three-game winning streak before their final-day home loss to Southampton. The team finished mid-table in a tightly contested league, which influenced the club’s decision to pursue a new direction under different leadership.
