Naseem Shah ruled out with knee injury in 2026 match comeback

Naseem Shah suffered a knee injury while fielding and had to leave the field during Rawalpindiz's 2026 match.

Injury occurs during fielding During his first appearance back after recovering from a back injury, Naseem Shah moved quickly to his left and attempted to halt a boundary attempt in the 16th over. As he dove, his body twisted into an unnatural position before he collapsed onto the ground. Medical staff rushed to his side and, after a brief examination, brought out a stretcher. With assistance, he managed to rise and then limped off the playing area. ## Official confirmation of injury A statement from Rawalpindiz confirmed that Naseem Shah exited the field due to a knee injury he sustained while fielding. The announcement also noted that the medical team was actively evaluating his condition at the time. ## Strong return before setback Naseem Shah had started positively upon returning from his back injury, bowling two overs in which he conceded only nine runs. His spell included the wicket of Mohammad Faiq, helping Rawalpindiz build momentum early in the match. The team aimed for their first victory, but Islamabad United were restricted to 137 runs. ## Troubled season continues for Naseem This latest issue extends a challenging campaign for the pace bowler, who has repeatedly been involved in off-field controversies. Earlier, he received a fine of PKR 20 million for a social media post that appeared to criticize Punjab chief minister Maryam Nawaz during the opening ceremony. Naseem attributed the post to a hacked account and subsequently parted ways with his social media manager. In his following game, he experienced back pain and was unable to complete his bowling spell. Rawalpindiz had already been eliminated from the tournament after losing their first eight matches.
