Minnesota Timberwolves unveil new uniforms, logo and courts for 2026 season
The Timberwolves introduced fresh uniforms and courts featuring classic and modern designs ahead of the 2026-27 season.
New uniforms reflect franchise history The Timberwolves rolled out three new uniform sets—association, icon, and statement—each drawing inspiration from past eras. The association and icon designs feature white, blue, and green colors, mirroring the team’s inaugural 1989-90 season palette. The statement uniforms bring back the pine tree-era black look, a fan favorite that differs slightly from last season’s alternate uniforms representing the 1998-2008 era. A franchise legend, Kevin Garnett, participated in the reveal by modeling all three designs. ## Design details emphasize Minnesota’s identity The association and icon uniforms share a three-stripe trim in classic blue and green, inspired by Minnesota’s natural landscape. Numbers and the chest mark are designed to resemble wolf fangs, while the statement threads feature glowing blue and green outlines spelling ‘Wolves’ instead of the full team name. Pine tree trims on the statement uniforms include a glowing blue edge, symbolizing the state’s thousands of lakes. The new logo retains the howling wolf but updates the colors to match the 1990-96 era. ## Courts and anniversary nods complete the refresh Two new home courts will debut, one ‘statement’ design and one ‘core’ design. The Timberwolves also reintroduced the ‘Old Shep’ logo on the shorts for the association uniforms, a callback to the team’s 35th anniversary classic uniforms from the 2023-24 season. Additional details include a custom ‘Tree-M’ monogram on the belt buckle and a five-tree lineup above every jock tag, subtly representing the starting five. ## CEO highlights fan connection in new designs Timberwolves & Lynx CEO Matt Caldwell explained the motivation behind the updates in a news release. “This franchise means something different to every generation of fans,” he said. “We wanted this new look to reflect the pieces of Timberwolves basketball fans have always connected with, while also feeling true to the team and culture surrounding this franchise today. More than anything, we wanted to create something that reflects where this organization is headed and what the entire state can rally behind.” ## Playoff exit fuels new chapter The Timberwolves’ 2026 playoff run ended in the second round with a loss to the San Antonio Spurs, ending back-to-back Western Conference finals appearances. The team now looks to build a fresh identity with its updated uniforms and courts, blending nostalgia with a modern edge. The changes aim to unite fans across generations while celebrating the franchise’s heritage. Minnesota’s new look arrives as the organization seeks to inspire statewide pride.
