Meadowlark Lemon was a multi-talented American figure who enjoyed a successful career as a basketball player, actor, and Christian minister. He was best known for his involvement with the Harlem Globetrotters, a renowned exhibition basketball team. During his acting career, Lemon made notable appearances on television shows such as 'Sweepstakes,' 'Alice,' and 'Hello, Larry,' and also starred in the film 'The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh,' where he played the role of a reverend alongside several NBA stars. Lemon's foray into the world of entertainment began in the late 1970s, with his first television appearance in 1979 on the NBC anthology series 'Sweepstakes.' He continued to act in various roles throughout the 1980s, including a stint on the CBS sitcom 'Alice' and a series of guest skits on the educational science show '3-2-1 Contact.' In addition to his acting career, Lemon was a devoted Christian who was ordained as a minister in 1986. He went on to establish the Meadowlark Lemon Ministries in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1994. Meadowlark Lemon was born on April 25, 1932, in Wilmington, North Carolina, and attended Williston School before enrolling at Florida A&M University. However, he was soon drafted into the US Army and served for two years in Austria and West Germany. While away from the Harlem Globetrotters, Lemon played for several other exhibition teams, including the Bucketeers and the Shooting Stars.
