Kent secure spinner Jake Lintott on loan for 2026 Blast campaign
Kent have signed Warwickshire wristspinner Jake Lintott on loan until the end of the 2026 Blast competition.
Lintott's Warwickshire exit Lintott is scheduled to depart Warwickshire when the current season concludes, after joining the Bears in 2020. His final first-team outing for the club came in September during their Blast quarter-final loss to Somerset. The 33-year-old has claimed 90 dismissals in the Blast at an average of 22.77. He has featured in just three first-class matches throughout his career. ## Late arrival to professional cricket Lintott transitioned to professional cricket relatively late in his career, leaving his teaching position to trial with Warwickshire in 2020. His strong performances earned him a permanent contract the following year. In the 2021 Blast alone, he took 21 wickets, which secured him a wildcard spot in The Hundred. He went on to win the inaugural Hundred title with Southern Brave as their top wicket-taker. ## Overseas franchise experience Lintott has featured in multiple overseas T20 leagues, including the Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League, and Abu Dhabi T10. His international debut for England Lions came in a 50-over match against South Africa in 2022, marking his first List A appearance. His participation in these tournaments highlights his adaptability in short-format cricket. ## Kent's upcoming fixtures with Lintott Kent kick off their 2026 Blast campaign against Middlesex at Lord's on May 22, with Lintott's loan deal running until July 19. Although he was not selected in this year's Hundred auction, strong showings in the Blast could position him for another wildcard selection. He is also available for Kent's Division Two County Championship matches against Durham (starting May 15), Lancashire (June 12), and Middlesex (June 19). ## Kent's bowling reinforcements Kent's director of cricket, Simon Cook, expressed enthusiasm about adding Lintott to the squad for the upcoming fixtures. He noted that Lintott brings a valuable new dimension to the team's bowling attack across all formats. The spinner is expected to complement the existing spin options, offering greater tactical versatility for Kent's coaching staff. "We're delighted to welcome Jake into the group for the next block of first-team fixtures," Cook said. "He provides us with an extra dimension to our bowling attack in all formats, and will complement the spin options we have to give us more tactical flexibility."
