Kent secure Mahmud for six Championship fixtures in 2026

Kent have signed Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud for six County Championship matches in 2026.

Hasan Mahmud set to join Kent Kent have completed the signing of Bangladesh pace bowler Hasan Mahmud for six of their remaining eight County Championship Division Two matches. The 26-year-old, with 36 wickets in 13 Test appearances, will be ready for Kent's matches against Lancashire and Middlesex this month. He is also scheduled to play in the four September fixtures. During the interim period, Mahmud is expected to represent Bangladesh in Test series against Zimbabwe and Australia. ## Mahmud expresses his excitement Mahmud shared his thoughts on the move, stating: 'Playing county cricket is a dream come true, and it's a proud moment not only for me, but also for everyone back home in Bangladesh.' The bowler has also featured in 33 one-day internationals and 28 T20 games for his country. His Test debut came against Sri Lanka in 2024, with his best Test figures being 5-43 against Pakistan later that year. ## Kent's cricket director praises the signing Simon Cook, Kent's director of cricket, welcomed Mahmud's arrival, saying it strengthens the team's foundations and injects fresh energy ahead of their remaining Championship matches. Cook mentioned that the signing provides extra motivation to push for promotion, especially after Matt Milnes and Keith Dudgeon carried a heavy workload early in the season. He added that Mahmud offers another high-quality bowling option for the squad.
