ICC officials examine Bangladesh Cricket Board elections in 2026 visit
ICC representatives arrived in Dhaka on June 1, 2026, to assess Bangladesh Cricket Board elections scheduled for June 7.
ICC delegates meet BCB officials Two ICC representatives, Moosajee and Mukuhlani, landed in Dhaka on June 1, 2026. They immediately held discussions with members of the BCB's temporary committee, led by president Tamim Iqbal. The delegation also engaged with the BCB election commission before the upcoming polls on June 7. Additionally, they met with former BCB directors who had stepped down from their roles. ## BCB election preparations continue Among the remaining directors who stayed on the board, Asif Akbar and Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury joined a separate meeting with the ICC delegation on June 2, 2026. Meanwhile, Aminul Islam, the former Bangladesh captain and previous BCB president until April, insisted that the ICC should refuse to acknowledge any election held by or under the temporary committee on June 7 or later. Aminul, who still views himself as the legitimate BCB president, stated that the temporary committee must revise their May 31 press release regarding the ICC's visit. ## High Court rejects election challenge The Bangladesh High Court dismissed a legal petition on June 4, 2026, that contested the validity of the June 7 BCB election schedule and voter list. Justices Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and Md Ashif Hasan ruled the petition was improperly submitted. The filing occurred on May 18, more than a month after the sports ministry dissolved the BCB board on April 7, 2026. The ministry then appointed an 11-member temporary committee headed by Tamim on the same day.
