Helmot Appointed as Gulf Giants Coach in 2026 ILT20 Season

Gulf Giants appoint Ben Helmot as their new coach in the 2026 ILT20 season, replacing Eoin Trott.

Melbourne Renegades' Helmot Moves to ILT20 Melbourne Renegades announced last month that Ben Helmot was stepping down from his role as their WBBL head coach, despite having two years left on his contract, in order to explore a new opportunity. This new opportunity has now been confirmed as the ILT20, which has shifted its schedule to November and December, thereby overlapping with the WBBL. Helmot's decision to leave Renegades was to pursue a fresh challenge, and it has now been revealed that he will be joining the Gulf Giants as their new head coach. ## Gulf Giants' Coaching Change After Trott's Departure Gulf Giants were the inaugural ILT20 champions in 2023 under the guidance of Andy Flower. Flower was later replaced as head coach by Eoin Trott last season, but Trott has now been replaced himself, following a fifth-place finish in his only campaign in charge. The team is looking to regroup and rebuild under the leadership of their new head coach, Ben Helmot. ## Helmot's Commitment to Building Strong Sporting Ecosystems Ben Helmot is currently working as an assistant coach at Sunrisers Hyderabad in India and has already met with the Gulf Giants' ownership in Ahmedabad. According to Helmot, his discussions with Mr Pranav Adani, the director of the group that owns Gulf Giants, reflected their long-term commitment towards building strong sporting ecosystems, nurturing talent, and creating competitive teams. This commitment to building a strong sporting culture is a key aspect of Helmot's coaching philosophy.
