Bayern Munich secured their 35th Bundesliga title with a 4-2 win over Stuttgart, keeping their Treble ambitions alive.
Bayern Munich secured their 35th Bundesliga title on Sunday by defeating Stuttgart 4-2 at the Allianz Arena. With nearest rivals Borussia Dortmund losing to Hoffenheim on Saturday, Bayern only needed a draw to claim their 13th title in 14 seasons. Despite falling behind, they showcased their usual flair to come from behind and claim victory. This triumph keeps their hopes of achieving a historic Treble intact, with upcoming semi-finals against Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup and Paris St-Germain in the Champions League.
Bayern began the season with a dominant 6-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig, with England captain Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick alongside Michael Olise and summer signing Luis Diaz. Over the next 29 games, this forward trio formed one of the Bundesliga’s most lethal attacking lines, contributing to Bayern’s record-breaking 109 goals. Kane, Olise, and Diaz alone accounted for 59 of those goals. Only two Bundesliga teams had previously scored 100 goals in a season—Bayern themselves in 1971-72 and 2019-20—making this achievement even more remarkable. With four games remaining, Bayern are now targeting 120 goals, especially as three of their final matches are against bottom-half sides like second-bottom Wolfsburg and bottom club Heidenheim. Defensively, Bayern have also been exceptional, conceding just 29 goals all season, and are on track to equal the Bundesliga points record of 91, set by Jupp Heynckes’ treble-winning team in 2013.
Harry Kane delivered a pivotal performance on the day Bayern claimed the Bundesliga title, further solidifying his case for football’s most prestigious individual award. Two years ago, Kane faced scrutiny over his move to Germany after Bayern ended a season without a trophy for the first time in 12 years. Now, he has not only helped Bayern reclaim the Bundesliga crown but has also scored 32 league goals in 27 appearances this season. His tally of 50 goals across all competitions is the highest in Europe’s top five leagues. Kane has also excelled in the Champions League, scoring twice against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals to guide Bayern to the semi-finals for the first time since 2024. His 15 knockout-stage goals in the competition also tie Frank Lampard’s record as the highest-scoring Englishman in this phase.
Bayern’s sights are now set on completing a historic Treble, a feat they have achieved only twice before—in 2013 and 2020. "In the way we play, we've learned and evolved over the last 12 months," Kane remarked last month. "A lot of people forgot it was Kompany's first year last year. We were still learning the way he wanted to play. We were still learning different ideas from him. We've really honed in on his ideas now, and for sure we're a better team this year than we were last year." Should Bayern triumph in their remaining competitions, they would become the first European men’s team to win the Treble three times.
