Ex-England spinner Kirstie Gordon added to Scotland's 2026 T20 World Cup squad
Kirstie Gordon returns to Scotland's team for the 2026 T20 World Cup after nearly nine years away.
Return after long absence Former England spinner Kirstie Gordon is returning to the Scotland squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, marking her first appearance for the team in almost nine years. Gordon previously represented Scotland 60 times before focusing on a full-time professional career in England's domestic system. Born in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, she featured in five matches during the 2018 Women's T20 World Cup as part of England's runner-up squad. She also played a Test match against Australia in 2019. ## Commitment to Scotland confirmed Gordon pledged her future to Scotland in December of the previous year, though her participation was delayed due to recovery from a back injury. Kathryn Bryce continues to lead the team, which includes three new selections compared to the squad that competed in the World Cup qualifier held in Nepal earlier this year. Young seam bowlers Gabriella Fontenla and Maisie Maceira have been included, alongside Gordon. Meanwhile, Niamh Robertson-Jack, Mollie Parker, and Hannah Rainey are omitted from the squad due to injury concerns. ## Preparation and group stage details Robertson-Jack and Ellen Watson will join an expanded squad for a pre-tournament tri-series against the Netherlands and Bangladesh. Following this, Scotland will travel to Manchester for their opening World Cup match against Ireland at Old Trafford on June 13, 2026. The team is scheduled to face England, West Indies, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka as part of Group B. ## Full Scotland T20 World Cup squad Scotland's T20 World Cup squad includes Kathryn Bryce (captain, Blaze), Chloe Abel (New Town), Olivia Bell (Lancashire Thunder), Sarah Bryce (Blaze), Darcey Carter (Lancashire Thunder), Priyanaz Chatterji (Surrey), Gabriella Fontenla (Yorkshire academy), Katherine Fraser (Durham), Kirstie Gordon (Blaze), Ailsa Lister (Lancashire Thunder), Maisie Maceira (Carlton), Abtaha Maqsood (Essex), Megan McColl (Watsonian/Dumfries), Rachel Slater (Yorkshire), and Pippa Sproul (Hampshire).
