Derbyshire's Harry Moore Misses Second Consecutive Season with Back Injury
Derbyshire's Harry Moore ruled out for second season due to recurring back injury.
Young Derbyshire Cricketer Faces Extended Absence Harry Moore, who is turning 19 on Sunday, made his List A debut for Derbyshire as a 16-year-old and was becoming a regular for England Under-19s before his initial injury, which occurred during a pre-season friendly against SACA last March, ruled him out of the 2025 summer. This latest setback means that Moore will miss a second successive season. The injury is a re-occurrence of the one that kept Moore out for the entire 2025 season, as stated by Derbyshire in their announcement on Wednesday. He will work closely with the club's medical team throughout the recovery process, with the goal of being available in 2027. ## Moore's Rise to Prominence and Ambitions Moore, who was a cricket scholar at Repton School in Derbyshire, is a 6ft 7in fast bowler and has aspirations to become an allrounder. In his appearances for Derbyshire in the Metro Bank Cup, he has taken 12 wickets in 10 matches, and in his County Championship appearances at the end of the 2024 season, he took six wickets in three matches. Moore would likely have been part of the England squad that lost to India in the final of the recent Under-19s World Cup but for his injury. He was also due to play for Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred last summer.
