Chennai Super Kings have signed Macneil Noronha as a replacement for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh, who fractured his foot during his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians on May 2. Noronha joins after Ghosh’s lone appearance yielded just one wicket for 24 runs, leaving CSK scrambling for reinforcements amid a spate of injuries early in the season.
The move underscores the franchise’s urgency to bolster its squad as fitness concerns continue to disrupt their campaign. Macneil Noronha has been brought in after a standout domestic season.
He recently won the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the Naman Awards for topping the run-scoring charts in the 2024-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy. His performances were instrumental in helping the Mangaluru Dragons win the Maharaja Trophy in 2025, where he scored 253 runs across ten innings and took ten wickets with his offspin.
Noronha also featured in three T20 matches for Karnataka during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, contributing 58 runs and one wicket.
CSK’s injury crisis has deepened as they’ve lost multiple key players before the halfway point. Ayush Mhatre, Nathan Ellis, and Khaleel Ahmed have all been ruled out, while the absence of MS Dhoni—still recovering from a calf strain—has further weakened the squad.
