Carlo Ancelotti signs new Brazil manager contract through 2030 World Cup

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract until the 2030 World Cup after leading the team to the 2026 tournament.

Contract extension details Carlo Ancelotti has officially extended his role as Brazil's head coach until the conclusion of the 2030 World Cup. The Italian coach took charge of the South American side in May 2025 following his exit from Real Madrid. Under his leadership, Brazil secured qualification for the 2026 tournament co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States next month. "From the very first minute, I understood what football means to this country," stated the 66-year-old manager. ## Future goals and appreciation Ancelotti revealed that both he and the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) share ambitions beyond qualification. "For the past year, we have been working to lead the Brazilian national team back to the very top of the world stage. But the CBF and I want more. More victories, more time, more work. We are very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years. I want to thank the CBF for their trust." ## Recent performance and World Cup aim Since taking over, Ancelotti has overseen 10 matches with Brazil, recording five wins, two draws, and three defeats. The team enters the 2026 World Cup with the goal of claiming a sixth title, marking the nation's first victory in the competition since 2002. Ancelotti is scheduled to announce his squad for the tournament on May 18, with Brazil set to begin their Group C campaign against Morocco on June 13. Their other group-stage opponents include Haiti and Scotland. ## Federation praise for new deal CBF president Samir Xaud described Ancelotti's contract renewal as "a historic day for the CBF and for Brazilian football." He emphasized that the agreement represents "another firm step in our commitment to offering the five-time world champion national team an increasingly strong, modern and competitive structure," while pledging to "work daily to keep Brazil at the highest level of world football."
