Can Burnley still avoid Premier League relegation in 2026?
Manchester City need a win over Burnley to top the Premier League for the first time since August 2021.
Midweek Premier League Games The Premier League midweek games have been moved forward due to the clubs involved in the FA Cup semi-finals. Football expert Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, BBC Sport readers, and a variety of guests. Alfie Watts, host of the Race Across the World: The Detour podcast, has also given his scores for the midweek matches. Sutton was speaking to Chris Bevan about his predictions. ## Chelsea vs. Brighton Chelsea's season under Liam Rosenior is heading in the same direction as 1912, when the Titanic sank, with their last five consecutive league games without scoring. However, they still have a chance to salvage their season despite their poor form. A top-five finish looks unlikely now, but sixth place would get them in the Champions League if Aston Villa finish in the top five and win the Europa League. Brighton have their sights set on the top six too and will go above Chelsea if they win this game. ## Bournemouth vs. Leeds Bournemouth have just announced that Marco Rose will be their manager next season, but Andoni Iraola seems to be signing off in style. Leeds are in decent shape too, after back-to-back wins over Manchester United and Wolves. They are not mathematically safe yet but they soon will be, because they have been phenomenal when I've watched them recently. They are so well organised and their system works - there is a lovely balance to their team and they have got a goal or two in them. ## Manchester City vs. Burnley Manchester City will top the Premier League for the first time since 21 August if they beat Burnley on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola's side will be fully focused on getting the win they need here - and I don't just think City will win at Burnley, I think they will win well. Burnley will battle and they will give it a go but with what is at stake for City, and the quality they have in the final third, I am thinking they can boost their goal difference as well as collecting the three points. ## Previous Week's Predictions Chris Sutton ended up with six correct results and no exact scores from the 10 games for a total of 60 points. AI got four correct results and that one exact score, for a tally of 70 points. The collective efforts of the BBC readers saw you lot get five correct results and one exact score - Manchester City's 2-1 win over Arsenal - leaving you on 80 points.
