Middlesex seamer Henry Brookes cut short his Gloucestershire loan after a hamstring injury.
Henry Brookes has cut short his loan spell at Gloucestershire due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old seamer was forced to return to Middlesex immediately after picking up the injury while bowling in Gloucestershire’s 10-wicket win over Derbyshire in Division Two.
His early departure means he will miss Middlesex’s upcoming County Championship home matches against Kent and Northamptonshire as he focuses on recovery.
During his two appearances for Gloucestershire this season, Brookes made an impact with both bat and ball. He claimed a wicket in one outing and in another, he produced a career-best performance at number nine, smashing 89 runs in the first innings at Derby.
That innings helped Gloucestershire secure their first red-ball victory at the venue since 2019, though they still lost their match against Lancashire.
Gloucestershire has expressed gratitude for Brookes’ brief but impactful stint with the club.
The team’s official statement on their website read, “Everyone at Gloucestershire extends their thanks to Henry for his efforts and commitment during his spell with the club, and wishes him a full and speedy recovery.” The message reflected the club’s recognition of his contributions despite the early end to his loan.
