Born on November 16, 1999, in Khartoum, Sudan, Bol Bol entered the world as the second child of Ajok Kuag and Manute Bol, a former NBA player and one of the tallest athletes in league history. Due to restrictions imposed by the Sudanese government during the Second Sudanese Civil War, the family was unable to relocate to the United States. Instead, they relocated to Cairo, Egypt, in 2001 before finally reaching America in 2002, settling in Connecticut as political refugees. By age seven, the family moved again, this time to Olathe, Kansas, a city known for its significant South Sudanese community. Bol started high school at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, where he initially played on the junior varsity team. Mid-way through his freshman year, he transferred due to residency requirements and continued competing in junior varsity basketball at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas, before advancing to varsity play. During his sophomore season in 2015-16, Bol earned recognition as one of the top prospects in his class and contributed to Bishop Miege's victory in the Kansas Class 4A Division I state championship. For his junior year, he transferred to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he posted averages of 16.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest, leading the team to a runner-up finish in the California Interscholastic Federation. In late 2017, Bol moved once more, this time enrolling at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, where he concluded his high school career with averages of 20.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Receiving multiple collegiate scholarship offers from powerhouse programs such as Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA, Bol ultimately chose to attend the University of Oregon. However, his college tenure lasted just one season before he entered the NBA draft. His standout performance that year included a 32-point, 11-rebound effort in a close loss to Texas Southern Tigers in late 2018. Following foot surgery, Bol was traded to the Boston Celtics the next day. Yet, before appearing in any games for the team, he was shipped to the Orlando Magic the following month. He re-signed with the Magic for the 2022-23 campaign, which proved to be his most productive season to date. He posted career-best figures of 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game across 70 appearances. After that season, he was released by the team. In the summer of 2023, Bol agreed to a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns. During that season, he contributed averages of 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game over 43 appearances, helping the Suns advance to the playoffs, where they were eliminated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the opening round. Following the season, he renewed his contract with the Suns.
