Bol Bol was born on November 16, 1999, in Khartoum, Sudan, as the second of eleven children to Ajok Kuag and the former NBA star Manute Bol, recognized as one of the two tallest players in NBA history. Due to restrictions imposed by the Sudanese government during the Second Sudanese Civil War, the family was unable to relocate to the United States and instead sought refuge in Cairo, Egypt, in 2001. A year later, they successfully reached the U.S. and settled in Connecticut as political refugees. When he was seven years old, Bol’s family relocated to Olathe, Kansas, a city known for its substantial South Sudanese community. Bol started high school at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, where he initially played on the junior varsity team. However, he had to transfer midway through his freshman year because he did not reside within the school’s district boundaries. Bol continued playing junior varsity basketball before eventually earning a spot on the varsity team at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas.
