Born on November 16, 1999, in Khartoum, Sudan, Bol Bol entered the world as the second child among 11 siblings to Ajok Kuag and former NBA legend Manute Bol, who is tied as one of the tallest players in league history. Due to restrictions imposed by the Sudanese government during the Second Sudanese Civil War, the family was barred from relocating to the United States, forcing them to relocate to Cairo, Egypt, in 2001. A year later, they successfully reached the US and settled in Connecticut as political refugees. When Bol was seven years old, the family moved again to Olathe, Kansas, a city recognized for its significant South Sudanese community. He began his high school basketball career at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, competing at the junior varsity level. However, he transferred midway through his freshman year due to not residing within the school’s attendance zone. Continuing his education at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas, Bol remained in junior varsity before eventually earning a spot on the varsity team. During his sophomore year in the 2015-16 season, he earned recognition among the top prospects in his class and led Bishop Miege to victory in the Kansas Class 4A Division I state championship. For his junior year, Bol transferred to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he averaged 16.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest as his team finished as runners-up in the California Interscholastic Federation. He made another school change in late 2017, enrolling at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, where he concluded his high school basketball journey with averages of 20.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. After receiving multiple college scholarship offers from schools including Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA, Bol chose to attend the University of Oregon. His college tenure lasted just one season with the Oregon Ducks before he declared for the NBA draft. His most memorable game came when he scored 32 points and secured 11 rebounds in a close defeat to Texas Southern Tigers in late 2018. Following foot surgery, Bol was immediately traded to the Boston Celtics. Yet, before appearing in any games for the team, he was moved to the Orlando Magic the following month. He agreed to remain with the Magic for the 2022-23 season, which turned out to be his most productive campaign up to that point, as he posted career-best averages of 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds over a career-high 70 appearances. After that season, the Magic released him. In the summer of 2023, Bol signed a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns. During that season, he contributed 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game across 43 contests, helping the Suns advance to the playoffs, where they were eliminated in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
