Bol Bol was born on November 16, 1999, in Khartoum, Sudan, as the second child among 11 siblings to Ajok Kuag and former NBA legend Manute Bol, who shares the record for one of the tallest players in NBA history. Due to restrictions imposed by the Sudanese government during the Second Sudanese Civil War, the family was unable to relocate to the United States and instead moved to Cairo, Egypt, in 2001. The following year, they successfully reached the U.S. and settled in Connecticut as political refugees. When Bol was seven years old, the family relocated to Olathe, Kansas, a city known for its significant South Sudanese community. Bol started high school at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, where he initially played on the junior varsity basketball team. However, he had to transfer schools partway through his freshman year because he did not reside within the school’s boundaries. He continued competing in junior varsity basketball before eventually joining the varsity team at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas. During his sophomore year in the 2015-16 season, Bol was recognized as one of the top players in his age group and contributed to Bishop Miege’s victory in the Kansas Class 4A Division I state championship. For his junior season, he transferred to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, where he averaged 16.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, leading his team to a runner-up finish in the California Interscholastic Federation. In late 2017, Bol moved to Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada, and concluded his high school career with impressive stats of 20.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Bol received numerous college scholarship offers from prominent programs such as Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon, Arizona, and UCLA. He ultimately chose to attend Oregon and play for the Oregon Ducks. Although he only competed in one collegiate season, he made a notable impact, including a standout performance of 32 points and 11 rebounds in a closely contested loss to the Texas Southern Tigers in late 2018. The day after undergoing foot surgery, Bol was dealt to the Boston Celtics. However, before appearing in any games with the team, he was quickly traded to the Orlando Magic the following month. Bol returned to the Orlando Magic for the 2022-23 season, where he delivered his most productive year to date, posting career-best averages of 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds over 70 games. Following that season, he was released by the Magic. In the summer of 2023, Bol signed a one-year contract with the Phoenix Suns, where he contributed 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game across 43 appearances, helping the team advance to the playoffs. The Suns were eventually eliminated in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
