Bhuvneshwar tops Purple Cap; Kohli jumps in Orange Cap race 2026

Bhuvneshwar Kumar leads Purple Cap with 14 wickets after RCB bowled out DC for 75.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowled out Delhi Capitals for just 75 runs in their IPL 2026 match, winning by nine wickets with 81 balls to spare.

The low total set the stage for a dominant RCB performance, while also reshuffling the Purple and Orange Cap standings.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets in the powerplay against Delhi Capitals, finishing with figures of 3-0-5-3 and a match tally of 3/5.

His 14 wickets now lead the Purple Cap race, tied with Anshul Kamboj and Eshan Malinga, but his better average of 16.85 gives him the edge.

RCB’s Krunal Pandya added one wicket, securing a place among the top ten wicket-takers with nine scalps, though his average of 26.55 stands slightly higher than his peers.

Josh Hazlewood matched Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s powerplay impact, taking three early wickets to reduce Delhi to 13/6.

He finished with 3.3 overs, conceding 12 runs and claiming four wickets in total, doubling his season tally to eight.

Hazlewood now ranks just below Vaibhav Arora in the wicket-takers list, marking a strong individual showing despite RCB’s collective dominance.

Virat Kohli reached a milestone of 9000 IPL runs during RCB’s successful chase of 76, finishing unbeaten on 23.

His performance lifted him to fourth on the Orange Cap list with 351 runs at an average of 58.50.

Though still six runs behind Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who remains second with 358 runs at 51.14, Kohli’s rise highlights a resurgent batting phase for RCB.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Abhishek Sharma continues to hold a firm grip on the Orange Cap with 380 runs at an average of 54.28.

With the season still in flux, the race for both caps remains wide open, promising fierce competition ahead.
