Beaumont fires near-century as Blaze, Hants and Warwicks claim wins in 2026

Tammy Beaumont scored 99 not out as The Blaze secured a six-wicket victory over Somerset to maintain their lead at the top of the One-Day Cup table.

England captain Tammy Beaumont fell agonisingly short of a century, finishing on 99 not out, as The Blaze defeated Somerset by six wickets in the One-Day Cup. The 35-year-old’s highest score of the season powered a successful chase at the Maer Ground in Exmouth, where her side chased 223 with over ten overs remaining. Beaumont’s innings featured twelve fours and a six off 109 deliveries and included a crucial partnership of 131 runs for the third wicket with Georgia Elwiss, who contributed 72 from 76 balls with eleven boundaries. Somerset, put into bat, recovered from a precarious 33-3 to post 222-9, thanks to a disciplined 97 from Anika Learoyd, while Charley Phillips and Kirstie Gordon each claimed two wickets for The Blaze.

Francesca Sweet struck her maiden half-century as Hampshire held off Yorkshire by 16 runs in a rain-affected One-Day Cup fixture to stay within touching distance of the leaders. Hampshire finished on 205-7 in 38 overs before defending an adjusted target of 213, with Ella McCaughan top-scoring at the crease with 51. Sweet added a composed 50 and Amanda-Jade Wellington an unbeaten 41, while Jess Jonassen’s three wickets for 24 runs proved decisive. Yorkshire’s reply began brightly with Lauren Winfield-Hill and Georgie Boyce putting on 63 inside the first 13 overs, but a late surge from Sterre Kalis with 46 couldn’t prevent their 196-8 total, falling short under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. The loss marked Yorkshire’s fourth defeat in seven matches, leaving them sixth in the standings.

Warwickshire moved up to fourth place in the One-Day Cup with a four-wicket victory over Lancashire in a 42-over-a-side match shortened by rain. Chasing 227, Charis Pavely top-scored with 63, while a match-winning seventh-wicket stand of 75 off 66 balls between Mary Taylor (42 not out) and Nat Wraith (34 not out) sealed the win with nine balls remaining. Lancashire were restricted to 226-9, built largely on a third-wicket partnership of 83 between Ellie Threlkeld (39) and Maddie Penna (38), with contributions also from Kate Cross (34) and a late-order rally. Mary Taylor starred with the ball as well, returning her best figures for Warwickshire with 3-47, while Phoebe Brett and Georgia Davis each took two wickets.
