Bayern Munich eye Liverpool's young winger Rio Ngumoha in transfer pursuit

Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for Liverpool's teenage winger Rio Ngumoha.

German club's interest raised Bayern Munich have shown interest in acquiring Liverpool's 17-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha. The Bavarian side made enquiries about a potential transfer for the youngster, though no direct discussions have taken place yet. Ngumoha, who is currently at a preparation camp in Florida as an additional squad member for England, is understood to be aware of Bayern's pursuit. However, no agreement on personal terms has been finalized at this stage. ## Liverpool's stance on the winger Sources connected to Liverpool have stated that Ngumoha is not for sale and is regarded as a vital first-team player. The club is actively working to strengthen his position, making his availability unlikely. Liverpool's pursuit of RB Leipzig's winger Yan Diomande adds another layer of competition, potentially limiting Ngumoha's playing time if both players are signed. This situation casts doubt on whether a deal will materialize given Liverpool's firm position. ## Ngumoha's breakthrough season Ngumoha has made a strong impression since his Premier League debut in August, scoring two goals, including a late winner in a 3-2 victory at Newcastle United. He also provided one assist during the 2025-26 campaign. His debut came under former Liverpool manager Arne Slot in a 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington in January 2025. At that time, he became the youngest player to start a match for the Reds at 16 years and 135 days old. ## Career journey and contract details Ngumoha transitioned from Chelsea's academy to Liverpool in September 2024. He signed his first professional contract with Liverpool a year later. In February 2026, a tribunal determined that Liverpool must pay at least £2.8m to Chelsea for the winger. The total fee could increase if specific conditions are met, and Chelsea will also receive 20% of any future profit if Liverpool sell Ngumoha.
