B Sai Sudharsan and Kagiso Rabada claim new No. 2 spots in IPL 2026

GT’s B Sai Sudharsan and SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen both crossed 500 runs, while Kagiso Rabada and Bhuvneshwar Kumar sit atop the Purple Cap race with 21 wickets each.

Orange Cap race tightens

Gujarat Titans opener B Sai Sudharsan, last season’s Orange Cap holder, surged up the rankings with a 61-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The effort marked his third consecutive half-century and fourth in five innings, bringing him to the top of the run-scoring chart before he fell in the 17th over. SRH’s Heinrich Klaasen, starting his chase just seven runs behind Sai Sudharsan’s 501, effortlessly crossed the milestone despite an unremarkable outing. Klaasen managed 14 runs, while SRH’s total stood at 86, but he retains the Orange Cap with 508 runs.

Top five run-scorers after SRH clash

Heinrich Klaasen and B Sai Sudharsan are the only batters to surpass 500 runs this season. Behind them, SRH’s Abhishek Sharma sits at 481 runs, though he contributed just 6 against Gujarat Titans. Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul follows with 477 runs, while Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans reached 467 after managing only 5 against SRH.

Purple Cap duel between legends

Kagiso Rabada has joined Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the top of the Purple Cap standings, each with 21 wickets. Rabada delivered a destructive spell in the powerplay against SRH, claiming three wickets—Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and R Smaran—and finished with figures of 3 for 28 to earn Player-of-the-Match honors. Despite Bhuvneshwar’s superior economy (7.46) compared to Rabada’s 9.15, the latter trails by a single wicket. Bhuvneshwar could extend his lead tonight when his team faces Kolkata Knight Riders.

Wicket-takers close behind the leaders

Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings leads the next group with 19 wickets. Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans’ Rashid Khan, and SRH’s Eshan Malinga all share 16 wickets each. Rashid managed a single wicket against SRH, while Malinga went wicketless. Prasidh Krishna returned from a near-month-long absence to take two wickets in his comeback, lifting his season tally to 14. Jason Holder, remarkably, has 13 wickets in just six games this season, placing him alongside Prasidh.

Key bowling figures from the match

Kagiso Rabada finished with bowling figures of 3 for 28, while Heinrich Klaasen top-scored with 14 runs in a disappointing SRH innings of 86. Abhishek Sharma contributed 6 runs for SRH, and Shubman Gill managed just 5 against his former team. Rashid Khan claimed one wicket, and Eshan Malinga remained wicketless in the encounter.
