Asa Tribe excluded from Jersey's 2026 T20 World Cup qualifiers in Cyprus
Glamorgan opener Asa Tribe will not feature in Jersey's squad for their 2026 T20 World Cup qualifying campaign due to domestic commitments.
Tribe's omission from squad Glamorgan batsman Asa Tribe will not join Jersey’s expedition to the 2026 T20 World Cup qualifiers in Cyprus. The 22-year-old featured for the England Lions in Australia during the winter and has already compiled three half-centuries for Glamorgan in this season’s County Championship. His county side, Glamorgan, will face Warwickshire in Division One starting Friday, which overlaps with the qualifying tournament, preventing his availability for the island team. Tribe previously turned out for Jersey in the final round of 2026 T20 World Cup qualifiers last summer before returning to the UK to continue his Glamorgan duties. ## Jersey’s qualifying campaign details Jersey are among ten teams competing in Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A, which begins this weekend. The top team from this group will advance to the final round of European qualifying in 2025. In their pool, Jersey will meet hosts Cyprus as well as Croatia, France, and Switzerland in the opening fixtures. The group victor will face the winners of another pool in the decisive final match to secure a spot in the next stage. ## Squad composition and key players Zak Tribe, younger brother of Asa, is included in Jersey’s 14-man traveling party, led by captain Charles Perchard. Wellington all-rounder Nick Greenwood is the sole first-class representative in the squad, which also features experienced campaigners Jonty Jenner, Harrison Carlyon, and Ben Ward. Former rugby player Scott van Breda makes his tournament debut for Jersey after earning caps against Guernsey last year and helping Farmers claim the European Cricket League in March 2025. Bowler Dan Birrell has been recalled following his appearances in warm-up matches against Denmark this month. ## Full Jersey squad for Cyprus qualifiers The complete squad selected for the tournament includes: Ben Ward, Charles Perchard (captain), Charlie Brennan, Dan Birrell, Dominic Blampied, George Richardson, Harrison Carlyon, Jonty Jenner, Julius Sumerauer, Nick Greenwood, Patrick Gouge (wicketkeeper), Scott van Breda, Theo Pullman, and Zak Tribe.
