Despite a standout performance in the 2023 World Test Championship Final, Rahane has remained excluded from India’s Test squad for roughly three years. His recent return to domestic cricket included a 159-run innings for Mumbai against Chhattisgarh in the Ranji Trophy, prompting public criticism of BCCI selectors for bypassing him in the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rahane voiced frustration over the absence of clear explanations for his exclusion and highlighted how his experience could have supported India during their challenging tour of Australia. Beginning his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians in 2008 at a base price of INR 12 lakh, Rahane’s fortunes changed in 2014 when Rajasthan Royals elevated his annual IPL salary to INR 7.5 crore. By 2016 and 2017, his earnings rose to INR 8 crore and INR 9.5 crore per season respectively. However, his IPL earnings have since declined over the past two seasons (2024 and 2025), though his cumulative IPL income now exceeds INR 60 crore. Reports indicate he earns approximately INR 1 crore for each endorsement agreement. The 37-year-old cricketer recently added a white Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 SUV, valued at about INR 3.3 crore, to his collection, taking delivery in Mumbai alongside his wife, Radhika Dhopavkar. This luxury vehicle joins his existing fleet, which includes a BMW 6 Series GT (INR 75 lakh), an Audi Q5 (INR 70 lakh), and a Toyota model. In addition to vehicles, Rahane owns a high-end sea-facing residence in Mumbai, estimated to be worth more than INR 20 crore. The property features Italian marble flooring, a cream-hued living space, a dedicated pooja room where he preserves his favorite bat during Diwali, and a display wall showcasing his trophies.
